Nominate: UNESCO Prize for Girls’ Education

    Deadline: 19 May, 2023

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has announced a call for nomination for the 2023 UNESCO Prize for Girls and Women’s Education.

Despite progress made in recent decades to realise girls’ right to education, the Covid-19 pandemic, conflict and climate-induced disasters are widening inequalities.

The UNESCO Prize for Girls and Women’s Education is therefore aimed at honouring outstanding and innovative contributions made by individuals, institutions, and organisations to advance girls and women’s education.

    Benefits

    • Two laureates will receive an award of U.S.$50,000 annually

    Eligibility

    • Open to governments of UNESCO member states
    • Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO are invited to nominate up to three individuals, institutions or organisations who have made strong, innovative contributions in favour of girls and women’s education
    • Self-nominations are not accepted
    • Nominated projects must be established and running for at least two years and show potential to be replicable and scalable
