The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is recruiting to fill the role of Operations Associate.

UNOPS’ mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.


  • Assist in liaison between UNMAS and SEMA projects at federal and state level
  • Assist in setting up internal and external SEMA federal meetings and record meeting minutes
  • Participate in field monitoring missions and QA activities in support of UNMAS and SEMA
  • Assist in meetings tied to the coordination of national protection cluster
  • Support in providing substantive inputs to assist SEMA in the preparation of reports
  • Validate field data reports prior to submission to SEMA and UNMAS databases
  • Facilitate the dissemination of data in support of SEMA information management department
  • Assist in carrying out data entry activities
  • Assist in preparing operational briefing documents and packages in support of SEMA
  • Facilitate the issuance of tasking orders to contractors
  • Assist in recording and dispatching SEMA’s mine-action-related correspondence
  • Assist in providing routine logistical and administrative support to UNMAS and SEMA
  • Assist in translation and interpretation of correspondence
  • When requested, assist during formal incident/accident investigation
  • Implement any other tasks requested by the director of SEMA or HEMS project manager


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two years, minimum, of relevant experience, or secondary school education or equivalent with six years, minimum, of relevant experience
  • Experience in explosive hazard management (highly desirable)
  • Experience in supporting operations in a humanitarian, conflict, post-conflict or development context
  • Computer handling experience
  • Fluency in English (writing, reading and speaking)
  • Fluency in Somali (writing, reading and speaking)
