United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection Officer.

  • Provide technical and administrative support by executing/administering a variety of technical and programme transactions
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the Egypt-Sudan cross-border initiative in coordination with UNICEF MENARO and UNICEF Sudan, as well as relevant ECO programme officers
  • Provide technical support, coaching and monitoring to partners with regard to ongoing expansion of the Family Club model
  • Follow up on the implementation of the SOPs on the Protection and Assistance of Child Asylum Seekers, Refugees, and Victims of Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons interventions
  • Coordinate the humanitarian, legal and psychosocial support to children in detention
  • Prepare inputs for programme and donor reporting
  • Carry out field visits and surveys with partners and stakeholders, providing technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners and other country office partners/donors
  • Provide support in coordinating, co-chairing and following up on child protection sub-working group/task forces, prepare materials, draft minutes, follow up on action points, coordinate with UNHCR and other key CP actors
  • Contribute in key meetings with national and international actors for the development of national referral mechanisms
  • Identify, capture, synthesise, and share lessons learnt for knowledge development to build the capacity of stakeholders
  • Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices to support the implementation and delivery of sustainable programme results
  • Research, benchmark and report on best and cutting-edge practices for development planning of knowledge products and systems
  • Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients and stakeholders


  • University degree in International Development, Human Rights, Psychology, Sociology, International Law, or a related field
  • One year, minimum, of professional experience in social development planning and child protection management
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
