The U.S. Department of Labour, through its Bureau of International Labour Affairs (ILAB), has announced a call for applications for project funding in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The funding aims to improve the DRC’s compliance with acceptable conditions of work (ACW) in one or more economic sectors through tripartite capacity building and dialogue.
According to the call, the overarching strategy is to focus on one or more economic sectors, to build the capacity of the general labour inspectorate to detect and address violations of ACW; increase worker access to effective remedies; empower workers and their organisations to help prevent, monitor, and/or stop non-compliance with ACW; and strengthen and sustain dialogue among tripartite stakeholders to improve compliance with ACW.
