UNOPS Programme Senior Advisor

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Procurement Officer.

UNOPS’ mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance of assigned procurement activities with UNOPS rules, regulations, policies and strategies
  • Ensure implementation of effective internal control, proper design and functioning of a client-oriented procurement management system
  • Ensure timely and duly prepared elements of procurement plans and monitoring of implementation
  • Ensure guideline is followed in embedding sustainability along the procurement process
  • Assist in submission of procurement reports to the head of support services and or procurement manager on quarterly basis
  • Assist in the development of the unit workplan and contribute to the achievement of goals
  • Organise, facilitate and/or deliver training and learning initiatives for personnel on procurement-related topics
  • Contribute to procurement knowledge networks and communities of practice by providing collaborative synthesis of lessons learnt and dissemination of best practices in human resources management
  • Collect feedback, ideas, and internal knowledge about processes and best practices and utilise productively

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management, Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management, Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field, with two years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • One year, minimum, of relevant experience in procurement and/or supply chain management
  • Experience in working with a range of stakeholders in developing countries (desirable)
  • Experience in developing/post-conflict countries will be a plus
  • Experience in procurement and supply chain management with UN or another international organisation will be a plus
  • Experience in the use of Gmail/Google Suite and related functions is an asset
  • Professional certification in the field of procurement from Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or elsewhere will be a plus
  • Knowledge of UNOPS procurement and financial rules and regulations (desirable)
  • Knowledge of UN/UNDP/UNOPS procurement rules and regulations is distinct advantage
  • Fluency in written and oral English
