Nigeria: Roducate to Fill E-learning Gap

As countries continue to explore measures to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 , the need for online learning platforms has become more crucial, especially for developing nations like Nigeria. Roducate, a Nigerian, indigenous e-learning platform, is striving to fill this gap.

The company, which caters to different learning styles to optimise user experience, said that its platform offers a wide range of content suitable to learners from Primary One through to university level, using only government-approved curriculum endorsed by the National Education Research Council (NERC), the National University Commission (NUC), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), African Union (AU), Microsoft, and the Lagos State Ministry of Education.

The Chief Executive Officer of Roducate, Femisola Awosika, said, ‘Roducate carries both West African and East African curricula. So, it’s a solution that can be used across the continent. The company has proven itself capable of playing on the big stage as it is the engine behind UBALearn, Glo Mobile Tutor, and ARMLearn. [The] Roducate app has logged over 700,000 unique subscribers. It is available on the web, mobile web, USSD, and iOS/Android/KaiOS’.

Roducate also assured students and parents of access to less popular subjects, offering not only English Language and Mathematics but also subjects like Music and Information Communications Technology (ICT).

Concerning education amidst the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, Awosika said, ‘With countries adopting e-learning as a means of minimising the disruption in education during the [Covid-19] pandemic, our children must not be left behind’.

Awosika assured Nigerians of the availability of the platform, stressing that the company’s creation of Roducate Mass, preloaded on smart featured phones, will address students’ challenge of access to internet-enabled devices. Roducate Mass is also designed to ensure online safety for children and is available offline.
