    Apply: DRC Mobile Response Team Protection Manager

    The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Protection Manager (Mobile Response Team).

    DRC fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure planning and timely implementation of DRC mobile protection assessments and responses with rapid deployment capacity, responding to needs as a result of new displacements or shocks (armed conflict, inter-communal violence or natural disasters) in underserved and hard-to-reach locations across South Sudan
    • Undertake rapid protection assessments in new areas to identify existing/emerging protection needs (general protection; GBV; child protection; and housing, land and property) while also identifying multi-sector needs
    • Produce assessment reports outlining protection concerns, multi-sector needs and recommendations. Present on findings, recommendations and advocacy points to DRC senior management and external stakeholders (donors, coordination mechanisms)
    • Ensure rigorous application of project cycle management standards at field level to achieve high quality protection programming throughout all stages including design, implementation, closure and monitoring
    • Quality control is expected to include strengthening qualitative data collection, in-depth reporting and analysis, monitoring accountability and feedback initiatives, adherence to DRC and donor compliance regulations, and documenting the impact of DRC presence in the field
    • Collaborate with the Emergency Manager and Protection Coordinator to define the scope and objectives of DRC protection response specific to each emergency intervention
    • Produce structured work plan and budget for each emergency deployment. Oversee implementation and ensure mission ToR activities are completed and objectives are met
    • Supervise and provide capacity building training to the national mobile protection and other sector response team members on general protection, GBV and child protection, including data collection methodologies, protection information management and adherence to protection principles

    Requirements

    • University degree in Law, International Cooperation, Social Sciences or Social Work
    • Five years, minimum, of experience in programme design/implementation/management, including but not limited to rapid protection assessments, monitoring, identifying and providing assistance to Persons with Specific Needs, service mapping and referral pathway development, GBV prevention and response, child protection activities, and establishing community-based protection approaches
    • Experience in managing complex humanitarian programming
    • Previous experience in emergency or conflict-afflicted setting is required
    • Demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team and cross-cultural dynamics
    • Experience in project cycle management, including proposal writing, budget management and donor reporting
    • Experience in coordinating activities across locations
    • Demonstrated experience in evidence-based monitoring and evaluation standards
    • Experience in designing and using tools for monitoring programme activities and achievements
    • Experience with different donors programming, ie BPRM, UNHCR, ECHO, OFDA, WFP and Danida preferred
    • Proven experience in capacity building and training, including preparation of materials and facilitation and roll out of a training plan, particularly on the topics of human rights, protection mainstreaming, community-based protection, GBV principles, child protection minimum standards and protection information dissemination
    • Knowledge of finance monitoring and follow-up tools
