    The World Health Organisation (WHO) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Technical Officer (Migration and Health).

    The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations (UN) system.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct research work for follow-up and analysis of migration-related health policies in the WHO European Region
    • Compile inputs on policy, humanitarian, gender and economic aspects of governance for health and migration in order to inform policy discussions with health and non-health stakeholders
    • Produce draft technical documents, information products and reports and provide technical assistance in the organisation of various activities, such as workshops, meetings and technical assistance missions, in support of policy development in countries of the WHO European Region
    • Provide country-tailored technical assistance within the operational range of the migration and health area of work, including the formulation, implementation and monitoring of WHO programme activities carried out in member states
    • Draft progress reports and other technical communications eg donor reports, annual reports, briefing notes
    • Support the Migration Health team in organising and implementing the Migration Health Knowledge Hub activities, including online training and organising yearly summer school to improve the skills of professionals working on different health aspects of migration and facilitating access to a network of experts
    • Facilitate and participate in multi-sectoral partnership dialogue with health and non-health institutional and non-institutional players in the WHO European Region in the area of health and migration, organise meetings, produce relevant documentation and reports and supply content for e-based information sharing platforms as required

    Requirements

    • University degree (bachelor’s level) in Political Science, Medicine, Social Science, Social Epidemiology, Global/Public Health, International Relations or similar area of study
    • University degree (master’s level) in one of the above areas of study is desirable
    • Two years, minimum, of relevant work experience in migration and health
    • Demonstrated work experience with research in a public health context
    • Relevant work experience in migration in WHO or in the UN system or experience in project management
    • Field work experience in the areas of health equity, health, economic or social development
    • Demonstrated knowledge of migration policies
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the public health and Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach to produce results able to address the sensitivity of migration
    • Expert knowledge of English
    • Intermediate knowledge of French, Russian and/or German
