The Nigeria country office of Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is seeking to fill the position of a Finance Assistant. PUI is an international non-governmental organisation that helps civilians who are marginalised or excluded as a result of natural disasters, war and economic collapse.

The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Officer and Base Administration Manager in all activities related to finance and cash management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the cash box and ensure the safekeeping of cash box
  • Process receipts and invoices for cash payments
  • Do daily physical inventory of the cash box with the Finance Officer
  • Ensure daily worker payments
  • Prepare and follow up pay-outs and cash advances, within established guidelines
  • Guarantee confidentiality of information
  • Check, before recording any entry, that the invoices are compliant with PUI’s regulations and procedures
  • Record cash expenses in the Excel books on a daily basis, and properly fill in the information needed (date, accounting code, project, budget code, etc.)
  • Issue voucher numbers, properly archive invoices and Sage vouchers in dedicated files, as per the donors’ rules and regulations
  • Assist in the preparations for external audit visits (donor and coordination visits)
  • Manage the electronic archival of finance files as per the filing process at the field base and share the scan data with Abuja
  • Manage the physical archival of finance files as per the archiving process at the field base

Requirements

  • Fluency in Hausa and English (essential)
  • Intermediate Kanuri (desirable)
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant degree
  • One year of experience, minimum, in a similar position (NGOs/private companies)
  • Good analytical and writing skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Outlook; excellent in Excel (essential)
  • Strong motivation to help people in need and high organisational skills
  • Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work
  • Ability to adapt according to the changing situation within a mission or the organisation itself
  • Autonomy, neutrality, hardwork
  • Ability to manage stress and pressure
