Nigeria: SPF Sets Up Unemployment Boot Camp

The Street Project Foundation (SPF) has set up a six-week boot camp for this first quarter of the year. It is an intervention to alleviate Nigeria’s youth unemployment crisis. The purpose of the boot camp is to provide opportunities for young, creative Nigerians who want to launch new ventures. The boot camp will bring them under the guidance and mentorship of experts in their field of interest.

The Director of Programmes of the foundation, Mr. Ezenwa Okoro, urged all employers – public, private and non-governmental organisations – to support his organisation’s boot camp by signing up as Employer Partners thereby playing a part in curbing unemployment. SPF also called on professionals from all works of life to sign up to mentor young people.

At the end of the boot camp, participants will be placed as interns with employers and partners. The Director of Programmes noted that ‘Internship placement is a critical component of this boot camp and also finding mentors for these young people’. SPF is an organisation that focuses on empowering and preparing youths for the world of work.
