The search for the next young science and technology ambassadors from the continent has begun.

The Next Einstein Forum (NEF) has launched the search, which will culminate in the selection 54 ambassadors from the region.

NEF Ambassadors will attend the NEF Global Gathering in March 2016 in Dakar, Senegal, where they will have the opportunity to network with NEF Fellows, acclaimed scientists and technology leaders as well as industry and policy leaders at an innovative gathering that will focus on how science and technology can solve global challenges and accelerate human
development.

Half of the participants will be under 42-years-old.

‘The NEF Ambassadors will represent their countries and the continent on a global stage, joining the movement for science-driven growth and development,’ Chairperson of the NEF and President and CEO of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Thierry Zomahoun, said.

NEF Ambassadors should be residents of an African country, under 42 years of age, have completed advanced studies in science, technology or have significant entrepreneurial achievements, have a track record of leadership in their community, are passionate about promoting science and technology and have an active online profile and following.

The African Union Commission as well as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the Governments of Rwanda, Senegal and South Africa, the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and a growing number of private sector partners from across the world have endorsed the NEF.
